Mai, Faris and their squad aren't from the dimension where the game is there, they are actually 21st century people that travelled (through dimension, not time) to investigate the game. In the dimension it's already the future, which means the game is abandoned like 100+ years ago in that universe and their 2120's timeline is actually the present day (2020's) in Faris' universe.

He is a wanted war criminal from another universe disguised as a game jolt creator who loves his waifu.
