Gamejolt has been on a fast decline for years. with multiple major issues and well i see now what the platform is turning into. gamejolts staff has clearly shown me that their hearts are in the wrong place. changing the ui over fixing the moderation issue has has been here since 2018 is insane.
removing firesides due to "money" when they could of found a way to monetize it. the partner program is a mess in my opinion. ive been feeling like this since they added the shop shit. which i found absolutely disgusting. adding a microtransaction into a website is insane. i understand money issues. but you gotta remember they are earning some money from the games being sold on the platform. There are ADs all over the website. that also earn them money.
all the partnerships they do with big studios and indie studios that they could easily earn a bit of extra money on and it ends up going to changing something that isnt needed.
gamejolt was not originally a social media website. it was a game-site where you can sell buy and release games. that changed around 2014? not entirely too sure its been quite a bit. but either way, this site is way past its golden days. and i think its time i move on.
am i not the only one who thinks this either. there are multiple people here even GJ partners themselves! who disapprove of what they have done
and if any gamejolt staff is reading this. heres a tip on what should be done.
fix the moderation.
hire new moderation staff that would be willing. im sure there are people here. myself included who would even volunteer as a moderator
stop making stupid ui design choices.
literally just stop. the ui was fine the way it was.
remove the "shop" and add a better way to monetize the platform.
there are other ways of monetizing the platform this was not the way to go.
as of right now these are the only 3 tips i can think off.
i want you the reader. to add any tips you think would improve the platform on this post. spread it around lets see what we can do to make this platform safer. and better for the community
