The feed starts from the most recent post.
Scrolling down shows older posts.
New posts have a highlight outline around the author's avatar:

Old posts don't:

We consider a post "new" if it was posted after the last time you visited the feed.
This means after you refresh, all posts are considered "old".
Make the feed start from the first post you haven't seen yet.
Scrolling down shows newer posts.
When you reach the bottom (the most recent posts) a new feed begins:
The new feed starts from the most recent post you've seen in your last visit.
Scrolling down shows older posts.
* This is basically the same feed as we have now, only it starts from an older post.
Much easier to catch up on all posts you haven't seen yet.
You view the posts in the order they were published.
Feels more natural.
If there's any continuity between posts you get to experience it properly.
No pressure to see all posts you've missed in one sitting.
You can continue reading where you've left off.
No need to re-scroll to get back to where you were last time.
It might feel weird when the first feed ends and the second starts. This is because there will be a (possibly big) time gap between the last post in the first feed and the first post in the second feed.
Harder to get to the newest posts. You'd have to scroll all the way down through the posts you haven't seen yet.
Possible fix: We can add a button to mark all posts as read.
This will make the feed look exactly like it does nowadays, tho we won't be able to highlight which posts in the feed are new.(because they were all just marked as read, lol)
