Essentially, make sure you are willing to share and hear ideas and opinions of others and to examine all sources to form a well educated and rounded opinion. Trapping yourself in an echo chamber and listening only to specific opinions from specific individuals is embracing ignorance not knowledge. If you refuse to at least listen to others you may find yourself to be wrong. The left and right both have ideas that work and ideas that don't. Some ideologies embrace history and others try to smear it, that's not exclusive to the right or the left. Others may try to tear apart science and others embrace it, the same right - left contraction applies. Stay educated. Gather as much information as you can. Do not confine yourself to the ideas of one group or ideolog / ideology. Make opinions based on deep thought, rational processes, historical accuracy, scientific alignment and the progression it instills in the minds of mankind.
