Important

(If you like my games including this one for the "charm", I advise you read this whole post)

It has come to my attention that Radiance Team posted a shout-out post (which has been deleted due to its reactions) telling people to check out this game if they're into the idea of an old-style FNACEC game or just more FNACEC content in general, and the reactions it got from followers of this game were either skeptical or straight up bashing them, and outside of it they've been dealing with more and more people bashing them because "where's the charm", "you guys have no charm" etc.

I don't know about you guys, but from the notifications I checked this shout-out post did no damage to this game's reputation at all, so it did not make sense to me at all as to why it was received the way it was. Most importantly, however, this highlighted a growing mindset that is very damaging to the FNaF fangame community as a whole. Basically, if there's one thing to take away from this post:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Charm does NOT automatically mean Good,
Modernized does NOT automatically mean Bad.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It is perfectly reasonable to prefer remakes that stay very faithful to the style of the originals, such as my own remakes like Return to the Factory, Tubbyland Throwback Trilogy and this game, but it is not fair to immediately discredit remakes that take the originals in a new direction, such as Five Nights at Chuck E. Cheese's Rebooted, The Tubbyland Archives etc. The style of the game shouldn't matter as long as the gameplay is fun and the experience is enjoyable, right?

But going as far as to go to a person or team's posts or games and bashing/harassing them only because a remake doesn't look the way you want it to is unacceptable, and doesn't make you any better than the person you're bashing. No developer or team deserves to be trashed on or harassed based on such a shallow judgement, no matter what.

This also highlighted how irresponsible I have been about this problem. Ever since Five Nights at Chuck E. Cheese's Rebooted came out, whether it be on Twitter or Discord, I have been harsh about the game and other games that don't exactly follow the style of the original games, which is where the "charm" joke originated from.

Recently I have changed my view on these games, and acknowledge that they are not bad just because they're different or deviate from their source material, but rather a preferable option to many people who are looking for a good remake.

However, I have failed at effectively communicating this to followers of my work, and my harsh criticisms from the past have made this problem worse for the whole community, and I deeply apologize for the damage my immaturity has done.

If you want my honest opinion on Rebooted nowadays, while it is still not what I originally wanted out of a FNaCEC remake, it is still a well-designed game and stands out in its own way. I especially began to like the Pizza Time Theatre setting and the overall atmosphere. It's not a perfect game, but hey, what is? It's charming in its own different way.

If you want another example of a great remake that doesn't closely follow the look and feel of the original, check out The Tubbyland Archives. All of its changes from the original game are absolutely for the better!

If you want examples of games with "charm" but aren't good, well, how about the original FNaCEC? I really like old photoshop style and its ideas and concepts, but in execution the game is either totally unfair with literal dice roll movement or a cakewalk by changing cameras every few seconds. I don't recommend playing it all the way, but rather enjoying it as a relic of the past with good ideas and nothing more.

Now, what about this game?

This game is a lot more arcade-ish and focuses more on gameplay than atmosphere and experience. If you prefer the latter, you are better off playing Rebooted and not this.

This is not a remake meant to "replace" Rebooted or compete with it, as I believe both games go in two different directions. However, I acknowledge that this was not initially clear when I originally posted the game page, which alongside my vocal harsh opinions on Rebooted and other modern remakes and just keeping the Recharmed name in general was very irresponsible of me.

If you genuinely prefer how this game looks over Rebooted, that's great. However, if you are rejecting or trashing Rebooted or anyone a fan of it for "not having charm", then please stop. It doesn't make you the hero of anything and only ends up damaging the community.

This extends to any remake out there, it is wrong to assume games that closely follow the source material are automatically better than games that choose to deviate from it, and especially unfair to judge games based on how much "charm" it has.

This game and page will soon be rebranded under a different name. Let's hope this is the true peak of the "charm" joke and everyone grows sick of it and never uses it to unfairly trash certain games again.

Thank you for reading.
