NOT CANCELLED
Just in case you panicked and assumed that's what this was.
Anyways...
(Not car) Engines
Hi guys! This one's a bit of a bummer to write...
So I haven't mentioned this before, but if you look at the game's description and go waaaayyyy down to the bottom...

"Engine/Language - Turbowarp"
Yeah...
So obviously, Turbowarp isn't an optimal program for a full-blown RPG...
I do think I could do it eventually if I absolutely had to, but it would be a nightmare I'd rather not face...
So, I see 3 potential solutions, each having their own unique downside:
Solution 1 - Stay with Turbowarp and tough it out.
Problem:
It's a weak, fragile engine that breaks a lot and will be frustrating to work with.
(even if it is better than Scratch...)
Solution 2 - Find a coder to help me
Problem:
They're hard to find and I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so I don't want to be nagging anyone and/or annoying them.
And I'm doing everything else alone like:
writing, music, sprites...
and etc. So they'll be waiting on me a LOT.
Also, if they ever just disappear or leave the internet at any point without giving me the files first, I'm kinda goosed and will have to start over from scratch...
Solution 3 - Learn (proper) Coding myself
Problem: Time consuming. And given that I'm facing my last and biggest year in school, I don't know if I'll have the time for it.
That said, I have recently installed Game Maker and am looking into trying the tutorials they offer in the hope I can get the hang of it.
What does this mean for
UNDERTALE: Whimsum's Journey?
Well, here's the best-case and worst-case scenario's I've devised in my head in the last few minutes:
Best Case:
I find the time to learn Game Maker and am able to code it
OR
I find a coder willing to help that doesn't find my nagging for everything to be perfect too tedious and/or annoying
(If you know someone who might be interested, please ask them...
It would really help me out!
I may also make a post asking help in other areas along with coding)
Worst Case:
The game will go into a temporary hiatus for 9 months until school is over and I have the time to learn Game Maker.
(If I don't find said time throughout the year, that is. I may be able to learn it over one of my breaks as well).
However, the writing and music will still proceed as they are now, and I'll give progress updates every once in a while sharing plans for the game!
(without too many spoilers, of course).
And maybe even some commentary on how I made some stuff, if I'm feeling up to it.
(And I'll also keep sharing cute pixel art of Bella and Whimsum, of course!)
One more thing...
So there's this pretty cool looking and popular UNDERTALE CYAN take by A Deli's hazo (delicioushazokie)
I have only been informed of it this very morning by FlorisktheFlowman.
(The maintainer of THE "UNDERTALE Prequel Projects list", check it out! It's insane how many fangames are in there!)
I checked it out earlier, and it looks pretty neat!
But Deli's take also has their human named Belle.
Now, I've only changed my human's name to "Bella" because it sounded more playful and childlike to me than "Belle". which fits her better given her character.
But I didn't know about Bella having shared her name with this popular take...
And NONE OF YOU thought to tell me!
So as punishment:
The secret sans fight is GONE for EVERYONE - except Florisk.
(Now there never WAS one planned, but lets play pretend).
Yup. I'm putting my foot down on this one, too late to go back now.
Y'all did this to yourselves.
You should be utterly ASHAMED...
(This is all just a joke btw. I'm not actually mad about this, just wanted to put something more light-hearted and funny at the end than having this post end on a bummer of a bad note).
Thanks for reading~!
