So I’ve stated that we’ve been making good progress on Nostalgic Night Terrors but I haven’t exactly gone in-depth as to what exactly we’ve done so far in the game. Currently, two of the six main cast members have been fully programmed into the game, with two more being close to fully programmed as well. Right now, I’ve been focusing on programming the main gameplay loop above all else, trying to build the core structure of how most of the game will be played so I can be confident that it won’t feel like a chore to play once it's released. A lot of fangames tend to go the route of making their game incredibly challenging, but I don't believe that kind of design works well for a horror game. The last thing I want you to feel while playing my game is frustration.
Keep in mind, the intent of this game is to feel like a fast-paced and intense balancing act that forces you to make use of every mechanic/system the game throws at you. Each character has their own unique mechanics you have to defend against, no one character behaves the same as the other. Because of this, along with the fact that the art direction calls for multiple aesthetics for the environment of the game, the game itself is going to take a while to finish to make sure it feels fun and frightening to play in person. I'm a person who believes in quality over quantity first and foremost, and because of that I want to make this game the absolute best it can be before I toss out a release date.
The game is incredibly ambitious, I have no doubt about that in my mind, but I know that we'll complete it someday. For the sake of giving you something to actually LOOK AT while you're waiting, I'll give you the scoop on what's done so far:

It's been four long years working on this project, and being honest it's been difficult. Balancing school and other passion projects with this game has been hard, but we're willing to work on this game another 4 years if it means we eventually get it done. Let's hope progress continues to run smoothly. Another update will come once I've finished programming Super Monkey and Coco. Hopefully that'll be soon! See you all then.
