In the Japanese version of the game, Nova Tsukuyomi is named Shiden Tsukuyomi. There’s two meanings to “Shiden,” but the one I remember was “purple lightning”— which is actually pretty cool considering his original purpose.

If you didn’t know, Nova was actually one of the test subjects in Project Gunvolt, the project that produced Asimov and Gunvolt himself. Project Gunvolt was about making artificial adepts by implanting subjects with septimosomes containing the Azure Striker septima*. Even if Nova seemed compatible and more than qualified, it ended up that Azure Striker almost killed him, so they had to implant him with a different septima— his being Psychokinesis. Actually, Psychokinesis is one of the most powerful septimas out there. Azure Striker is also one of those septimas, and actually-ACTUALLY— Gunvolt, Nova, and Zonda are some of the most powerful adepts out there*.

TLDR— I think Nova’s Japanese name being Shiden is a neat little nod to his past, which involved him being failing at being an Azure Striker, and having to switch his septima out for what he has now, Psychokinesis.

*By memory. You can read his wiki article in case I got anything wrong. https://azurestrikergunvolt.fandom.com/wiki/Nova_Tsukuyomi_%22The_Mighty%22
