Good morning everyone! (Or goodnight depending on where you live) First of all if you have no idea what this is all about just check this blog post to learn more! The second day of the contest is 2 and a half hours in and we’ve been asleep for the last 7 hours or so. Now until everyone wakes up and we start working again let me give you a quick update.
The first day of the jam went a lot better than we had imagined. Tha jam started 7am local time so we had a good night’s sleep before it. We spent the first two hours designing the basic aspects of the game and assigning roles. For a full description (and possibly a good rating?) of the game we are making check here! Panos took charge of creating all art of the UI elements while Manolis decided to code the interface and the menus. John as always got in charge of drawing and animating and characters while Kostas got his usual job of creating backgrounds and inanimate objects. Finally Ilias being the lead designer went from PC to PC giving ideas and asking us for minor changes while I got right into the core gameplay of the game. The first few hours went increadibly smoothly, we had a few test backgrounds ready and the main “villain” of the game was all sketched out and ready for more details. The UI was turning out beautifully as well, with what I like to describe as “extreme simplicity”. The code was going pretty smoothly as; by then I had a fully animated character ready. A few hours after lunch Panos created a banner and I wrote the game description for upload on our GameJolt page. Both we and the game started to get some exposure through our social media (which Kostas is managing at the moment). At the end of the first day, around 2am, we had ready a fully drawn “villain”, a completed walk animation and a little bit of another animation for him, a fully fledged background, three fake corporate logos, a working straw, most of the art for the UI elements, a complete splash screen and most menus working like a charm. So we have the prototype we wanted ready. Today is going to be mostly artistic, we are going to focus on music, creating enhancing art and adding extra features to the game. Thanks to everyone for their support! Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook, etc. We are going to start streaming again, right about now, so come in there and give us a nod! Good luck to all other teams as well and #goenvy! Stay focused!
