Whether you're longtime followers of this project or newcomers, I welcome you all to the VOIDWATCH: CrossLust GameJolt page.
This project has been in constant development hell since April of 2022, that's roughly 3 years now. Since then a lot in my personal life has changed and I want to wish everyone an apology. I did not have my head on straight, and was emotionally unavailable to provide this project with more positive development techniques. I limited myself out of simplicity and fear that this would all be a waste of time and effort. I acknowledge my own self-esteem issues and have been working on bettering my mental health through my long absences.
The truth is, I WANT to be a developer. I WANT to make this game the ABSOLUTE BEST it can be, and I KNOW it's doable now more than ever before. I am saddened to announce I have begun a 3rd iteration of the game and its narrative. A large error on my part was writing as I developed rather than working with a complete story at the start. I can promise you all that I am in the most positive environment I have ever been placed in my entire life. I have the freedom to put everything into my passions, especially since I have completed my 2nd Year in University as of this morning. This time before September is a gift, and I wish to provide an outline of the next few months to better establish where I am with development.
To-Do: April 2025:
Complete Act 1 & Begin Intermission 1 Script
Iteration 3 - Update #2: April 28th, 2025
To-Do: May 2025:
Complete Intermission 1 & Act 2 Script
Iteration 3 - Update #3: May 17th, 2025
To-Do: June 2025:
Complete Intermission 2 & Act 3 Script
Iteration 3 - Update #4: June 7th, 2025
Iteration 3 - Update #5: June 28th, 2025
With each Iteration 3 Update, I will be discussing the progress of our tasks for that month and how it will be affecting the tasks ahead. In this Developer Log specifically, I will be updating you on where we stand with the script so far.
The Prologue has been rewritten entirely but still remains similar to my original drafts, with special exceptions that will be sure to hook players into the narrative through a "Hero's Journey" beginning.
With the completion of The Prologue comes better tracking of on-going plotlines, as well as a detailed list of what has been mentioned throughout the story within that section. This helps immensely with creating engaging moments for both the story and the gameplay.
(ex: Brian likes alcohol, therefore potentially make him susceptible to drinks later in narrative)Act 1 is currently written up to Page 10 of the script, greatly changing how the events kickoff the rest of the game by making minor characters more important and prominent throughout. There's no sense in getting rid of a potential long-term antagonist or introducing a semi-major character earlier on for the plot later throughout the different segments of the game.
I would love to go on with the many changes made, however this in the end will be a fully published game available here, on GameJolt, and of course on Steam. It's only right to keep the major changes a surprise for players!
Thank you for your patience with me, I finally figured everything out. I appreciate all of you for your support and I can assure you that you'll all be rewarded with a completed project. You shall hear from me again on April 28th, 2025 with Update #2!
