It's been a long time, hasn't it?
Howdy Undertale (and presumedly Deltarune) fans! Hope you all have been enjoying the content! I know I have been enjoying being overly hyperfixated once again.
Anyway, I don't want to talk too much about Deltarune, as I know that's not why you all are here.
Underfell! Yes, of course! I'm sure you want to know ALL about our lovely project we've been working on! Well, I have good news and bad news for you!
Good news! After spending a nice time relaxing after being married, progress has been going quite steady these last few weeks! Lots of work has been put into the game and some re-adjustments to the structure of our team has been going fairly well!
We have tons of new sprites, music, art, all sorts! I'd love to share some of what we've been working on, but unfortunately I think it'd be best that you all wait for the demo to release. Why spoil the fun, right?
Also, I think my legal team would kill me if I leaked another design early
That being said, there is some unfortunate news as well.
While developing the game, we noticed quite a few bits of the code being outdated and rough around the edges. We've been spending quite some time revamping our systems to be much cleaner and easier to handle.
Along with this, we also have been recently going back and rewriting parts of the script based on feedback. Nothing too major, but definitely some much-needed changes.
While these setbacks may take up some time for developing the rest of the demo, they will help us in the long run. A lot of the new systems are much easier to mess with and handle, making it simpler for us to modify for our needs.
I wish I could give an estimate on what kind of setback it would be, but at the moment, I still don't even have a window to give for our demo release. So for now, stay tuned to hear more! I will try and update this gamejolt as actively as possible, but fans are always free to join the discord server to potentially hear more from the team!
As you have noticed in the title of this post, we are currently looking for pixel artists. While we have a very good group of talented pixel artists already, it takes a heavy toll on us as a team to be pushing work to such a small amount of people.
That being said, applications are open for pixel artists! I ask that if you wish to apply, use the link provided and provide the information needed. If you cannot access the link, then I ask that you join our discord server and message in the application channel there.
This application will be open for quite some time, but we do not expect to bring too many new members to the team, maybe 2-3 at most. So if you feel like you have what it takes, and are willing to put in the time and effort, feel free to shoot us a message!
I feel odd not leaving this post off with something special, so let me just say once again how happy I am for the community we are building around this project. Underfell means a lot to not only me, but my entire team, and we want to make sure we deliver something amazing for the fans who have been eagerly waiting all this time.
I truly wish I could release the demo as it is now for you all, but I want something great for the fans, something that will spark a new hope for the fandom. While I can't give any estimates or promises, I will say that I believe it won't be too long now...
