V0. 0. 3: Scanner/Enemy Updates

Gameplay

  • Reduced Resonant Blade frequencies to 3 (red,yellow,blue).

  • Made player invulnerable state longer after taking damage.

  • Scanning is now an instant-cast AOE ability with a 15 second cooldown. Scanning targets will reveal their Resonant Tone color for 2 seconds and Resonant Tone sound for 10 seconds.

  • Hitting an enemy with a Resonant Tone other than their matching one (Dissonant Tone) will do minimal damage instead of 0 damage.

  • Hitting an enemy with a Dissonant Tone will stun the player for a short time. If this happens when the player is low on energy, the stun time will last longer.

  • Snipers and Swordfighters now change their Resonant Tone during combat.

  • Snipers and Swordfighters have increased health.

  • Snipers and Swordfighters damage has been reduced.

  • Turret enemy fires 3 shots (red,yellow,blue) in short succession.

  • Turret enemy’s Resonant Tone weakness is static.

  • Boss Battle (Krax): Krax’s counterattack can now be parried

  • Boss Battle (Krax): Krax now changes Resonant Frequency during the jump and counterattack phases.

  • Added tutorial screen for using the Wave Blade attack

  • Added player self-heal ability. Uses 3 resonant charges (any color). Channel ability. ‘Z’ or (‘LT’) to use.

  • New Scientist NPC. Explains Resonant Blade special attacks called Triads and more specifically, the Wave Blade attack.

  • Updated NPC dialogue in Proto Labs to explain new gameplay mechanics to the player.

  • Reduced frequency of health drops from crates.

  • Intro cutscene is skippable.

  • Added a bit of ledge forgiveness during platform sections. Player's now have a very short time after running off of a ledge to dash before falling.

Art/Animation/UI

  • Orange color of crystals are less red.

  • Enemy damage numbers are italicized and colored when hit their weakness.

  • Dialogue: Pushing activate during dialogue will cause text to appear much faster.

  • Interactable objects now light up and are easier to identify as being interactable (Treasure chests, computer terminals, scannable objects)

  • New HUD tooltips will pop up when the player’s Heal or Wave Blade abilities are ready.

  • Ledges and holes in Subway and Tunnel areas are easier to see.

Controls

  • Joystick deadzone has been increased.

  • Player diagonal movement speed has been slowed down to match other directional movement.

  • Disabled being able to parry while performing a dash.

  • Can use mouse wheel to cycle through frequencies

  • Can use 1, 2, 3 to select frequencies

Bug Fixes

  • Krax HP bar displays instantly instead of filling up. Not as cool, but it works and shouldn't get stuck anymore.
