I made this decision weeks ago, but I’m just now getting around to doing a write up on it. Kuntry Pedes doesn’t make for a good strategy game because there is no way for a player to develop a heuristic understanding of the system. Instead, the only way to make informed decisions in Kuntry Pedes is either through tedious calculations, or level memorization.
In addition to that, with only 3 options at every juncture, there are no opportunities for players to make creative plays or develop interesting new strategies.
Going forward, I plan on beginning work on a new strategy game. This time with a more refined and rigorous design philosophy that will hopefully allow me to avoid the kinds of fundamental flaws that plagued Kuntry Pedes.
