It would be very funny and original to release the game today (it's april fools) buuuuut no!

Last update before release

That's right, we are in the final stretch now. Like I mentioned in the last update, I am still around a month of progress behind but all the important features for the first release are coded.

The delay was inevitable but I am glad it's just around a month and not more like I thought.


These past few weeks I mainly worked on the overworld and the chat system. When it comes to the overworld I am trying my best to make sure that every single room has a purpose - I'm making sure there's something you can interact with or do in all of them, so far it's working out well although it is tiring to come up with so many ideas in such a short time.

The first release will fully focus on the whole of ruins + some secrets. There are also some new and "remade" rooms that bring even more content.


Chat rework

The old chat system was working but very broken and unstable. I started work thinking I would fully recode it but it turns out there's much more to it than I remembered. So instead, I only fixed the most broken part of it.

I will definitely come back to reworking the chat in the future but for now I really have no time for that.

With the rework come some improvements, especially to the colors and effects system:

The biggest upgrade in my opinion is the preview, now you can actually see how the text will turn out since the colors will be displayed (thanks to @afanguy for the suggestion)

This upgrade also allowed me to be more flexible with my ideas for colours and other effects so I will be definitely adding more in the future.


Other than this, (spoilers) and bug fixes I haven't really done anything interesting and worth posting. These last few weeks I ended up more busy than I expected which upset me because I really thought the plan to release the game in late march/early april was gonna work out lol.

I might still occasionally post spoilers on the discord server but until it's release time I won't be making any more update devlogs.

When it's time, I'll make sure you'll know.
