Let's Players and Video Comments

Watch, like, and subscribe to let's players through Game Jolt!

Let’s players have become a huge part of indie gaming. They not only provide helpful playthroughs to captivate and expand the game’s reach, they also commit a lot of time to find those new and old hidden gems.

What we think makes Game Jolt the best website for indies is the fact that we value both gamers and developers. Most of the features we’ve released lately have been developer oriented, so I wanted to focus on giving gamers the tools they’d need to grow their presence within the indie community.

Currently, let’s players share their videos by commenting a link on the game page. It shows up as an unappealing text URL, so I spent last week working on implementing something I’ve had in my head for a few years now… VIDEO COMMENTS!

Introducing Video Comments

Comments containing YouTube video URLs will now embed the video under the comment.

By clicking on the video thumbnail, you can watch them in a larger overlay without clicking away from the game page. We also embed a Subscribe button for the video’s channel, to help grow your subscriber base on YouTube!

But we didn’t stop there! Your videos can appear in the new Video Comments section of the game page, as well as your own profile page. In order to get them showing, you’ll have to do a few things…

First, head on over to Linked Accounts and add your YouTube channel.

You must add the game’s Game Jolt URL to the description field on your YouTube video, or it won’t show up in the Video Comments for the game. And don’t worry, we’ll automatically pull in older videos from comments that you have already posted.

Video Likes

Videos on game pages are sorted by their like count, so be sure to like video comments that you enjoy on Game Jolt! The more likes your videos have, the higher up they’ll show on game pages.

Let’s Player Profiles

When you post video comments to games, they will also show on your newly designed profile pages! You can click into anyone’s profile to see the videos they’ve posted.

I’m committed to making sure that Game Jolt continues to be the #1 place for let’s players to find, play, and share games. This is just the beginning of what we’re working on for all of you!

All right, time to place my haul. I need mastery of these stickers.

Modded a Game Gear! Took a long time, but I'm really happy with the results. New screen, speakers, shell, rechargeable batteries, all that. Even has an FM radio chip in it so that when it runs Master System games, it has better music.

Here we go!

Oof, got three sticker packs and got super unlucky with my drop rates for the star haha. I gotta master them all though!

Ohh, what's this? You can see all the stickers in a sticker pack before buying/opening now. Finally.

Look where I'm at

My grumpy dog doing yoga.

Ah yes, programming documentation.

My custom-made controller. Click click.

After about 6 months, I started working on my custom controller again for retro gaming!

I designed the PCBs for the analog sticks, got them made, and check them out! They fit in perfectly.

Next step, building out the whole main PCB.
