Bernard is/was the smartest.
But, as you can see in the pizzeria files from the second night, the staff removed his brain.
This, in my opinion, caused a change in Bernard's body and behavior causing a de-evolution.
(Plus, maybe it's a stupid thing about the body because in the manual they used highly incompatible parts or something like that)
(they have all the rights to do this)
