6 months since my last devlog. Wow. I’m lazy.
But for real, ONE_LINE is still being worked on. Just…. at a muuuuuuch slower pace. I wanted to work on it this summer and I did. One new game mechanic has been added and is being tweaked out of it’s bugs. I also added the level select pages, so the max level cap has now been removed. Controller support has also been tweaked for this new level select screen. Some other features have been added, but I want to keep them secret at the moment.
Now, the only issue here is that I had a summer job. So finding time to make the game was a bit difficult. I then planned to work on the game after the job, during my one or two “weeks” of free time. Other issue: College. I never knew when the term started until my final week of work began. Notice how I put “weeks” inside quotes. Well, turns out that I had only two DAYS of free time before College started. So my head was pretty much not at all on ONE_LINE at that moment.
Ok, so, I told myself “I’ll work on the game when I come back from school on the days I finish decently early” Simple answer from my class schedule when I received it: NOPE! I need to wake up at 6 in the MORNING each day and I finish at 6 in the AFTERNOON 4 days out of 5. The earliest I can leave is Friday, since my last class finishes at 4 PM that day. PLUS I’ll have a morning job the Saturdays soon just to help with my already scrapped dev schedule of ONE_LINE. Of course, I have even less time than that to make the game, I didn’t even mention the pile of homework that I’ll need to do each week…
TL;DR, the development of ONE_LINE might pick back up in December, where I’ll have 5 holiday weeks to think about my projects. That doesn’t mean that there won’t be any updates at all though. It is still possible for me to find time to work on the game, even if it is most likely improbable.
In the meantime, I will publish the game I made during my last College term called Project 0, my first actual non-Construct 2 game made with Unity. If you are interested in 2D racing games, give this one a shot. Since it is a school project, it might not be well optimized and will contain glitches. I also gave a challenge in one of it’s devlogs. So if you want to try it out, the release is going live september 2nd at 12:00 EDT.
Hopefully I will see you soon!
