Todo inicia después de que un local cercano cerrara por culpa de la muerte de un niño, el cuál murió por causa de los amigos de su hermano, los animatronicos viejos fueron descartados por qué no eran lo suficientemente buenos para entretener a los niños, así que se optó por traer nuevos personajes, con mejor adaptabilidad para el local, dejandolos salir de sus escenarios e incluso poder celebrar en la misma mesa que el cumpleañero. Los modelos viejos fueron descartados, y otros fueron reparados para dar mas atmósfera al local, además de crear más personajes para dar dulces a los niños bien portados. En la noche, un adolescente que perdió a toda su familia, el cuál se llama Mike River, busca trabajo en el local. El busca pistas sobre los que le dijo su padre antes de desaparecer: "encuéntralos, y no dejes que el te vea", el no sabe que significan esas palabras, pero las sigue al pie de la letra. Al final de la semana, Mike decide pasarse el trabajo diurno, pero todo sale mal cuando una niña termina muriendo por cualpa de que un animatronico zorro le mordiera el lóbulo frontal. Todo esto pasa en 7 noches en 1987.
