Menus, databases, cockpits

I picked up the pace of development a bit a few weeks ago, so I managed to make some progress. As I have decided earlier, I want to create the main menu, and the menu option, as well as the first two levels in the game, so I can show them and start a bit of promotion for the game. It would be also good for some playtesting, getting the feedback of some testers about the game mechanics and the feel of the game. So I was working on the following things:

1.) The control room. I always liked those games where the simple text menus are displayed as animated hubs, where the different doors and gadgets are used for different menu options. So I’m trying to make something similar here.

2.) The cockpit. What I’m planning to do is to have this appear before launching the next level, to get a short briefing about the mission. It will be skipable, but I hope players will be interested in the backstory of the game, which can be told here.

3.) A Database menu. The player will be able to collect small lore/backstory bits during the game in forms of datadiscs, datacubes etc, which will be gathered in this menu. I haven’t nailed down the style of this yet, so I made two versions so far.

Future: after I finished coding the database menu, I want to create the equipment menu, where the player will be able to choose the gear for the spaceship, or to upgrade said gear.

We made a lot of improvements on the Freezing Plains visual. Things like pine trees, tiny bushes, some rocks, and others game props!

Back in my art school days I used to ride the 710 COPSA line from Parque Del Plata to Montevideo almost everyday. This is the Marcopolo Viaggio G4 Mercedes Benz model from the late 80s, one of the older bus models that was running on the line.
