VIBRANT VISUALS (BETA + Preview) Review
I just tried it. It's still in BETA so suffice to say it needs a LOT of improvement!
Some of the mistakes I saw:
First time loading them, the entire world had inverted colors for like a second.
There were some instances of mobs stuttering in and out of existence.
The Nether had this constant BLUE fog that doesn't make any sense, cuz it's the Nether so... it should be mostly red.
The lack of development on The End Dimension is concerning, even for a BETA. It literally has NO SKY TEXTURES. The lighting is minimal and it looks like a very toned down version of the Overworld daytime lighting, and it's constantly fading in and out into darkness. Ngl it makes it a bit creepy, but not in a good way, more like in the bad way. "Bad" as in "Oh wow, this isn't supposed to happen", and it kind of unnerves me, but it also gives me the feeling that The End was neglected in this PUBLIC PREVIEW of Vibrant Visuals.
You can barely see a thing underwater, and in the distance there is a very pronounced sillhouette of the nearest ground. Not to mention that in deeper waters, the color of the water would change very fast while you're swimming up or down.
This one bugs me a LOT! At night, the clouds are still very visible and white, as if the lighting around it doesn't affect the way they look, which... it SHOULD. I mean c'mon, it happens in the vanilla visuals!
The overall shaders seem to be very unstable still, which makes me think y'all should have let this bake in the oven for a bit longer before dropping it in the Preview Ver.
5/10, even for a BETA version.
A Minecraft Movie Review (No Spoilers)
Overall, the movie was actually pretty alright. It was honestly what I was expecting it to be and, in my opinion, it does its job well.
It is a fun (and sort of loose) story that you can turn your brain off to and just relax and have some laughs at the stupidest parts or the corniest lines.
OH YEAH! THE CORNY LINES! They doubled down on them, especially Jack Black! He has embraced the memes that surround the film and he constantly engages in pushing that over-the-top character the he portrays in the movie! And, honestly... I LOVE THAT! His personality as Steve in the movie is actually so full of energy and he's such a theatre kid bro, I love it! (Me being a theatre kid myself lol) (Btw, yes the corniest line in the movie has already been memed to death, not gonna say what it is tho! Go watch the movie yourself, lazy ass!)
Anyways, it DOES have flaws!
For example:
The start of the movie is pretty weak and not really engaging
There are random musical moments from Steve and there's ONLY ONE of them that didn't feel forced and/or cringe, which is the last one.
The pacing and structure of the story itself was all over the place. By the time the climax of the movie was hitting, me and my friends all felt that there should have been something more, it felt like those 2hrs of watching the movie were mere 30mins. It felt like we were still in the middle of the movie.
And the finale was kinda... not stupid but... close lol. I just disregarded it as "the movie not taking itself seriously", which it didn't but... yeah. Watch it and you'll get what I mean!
Overall, it's really just dumb entertainment but not literal brainrot... ew. It's just a fun movie to watch either with a younger family member or when you're high with your friends lol (that must be one hell of an experience, jesus)
Anyways, it's dumb and it knows that, and a good part of the charm comes from that. And the casting of Jack Black as Steve is perfect for the kind of movie this is!
A solid 6.8/10
