Hello, folks! I have some good news for us all today! Recently, we recieved just what we were looking for- some programmers! However, there’s even more news the majority of you may not find appealing, but we’re determined to make it work! I will go over as to why we are making this change, too.
First, let’s welcome our new programmers nbagnara, geosakii, and MrRyzen! Also due to the change, we discovered 3 new programmers that were already among us, Galestrike, greloom, and Lixian! Six in total, meaning each project gets 2! We even already have an appreciable amount of progress from nbagnara and geosakii already, and it’s their first day!
So, what’s the change we’re making? Well, brace yourselves. Due to Gamemaker Studio 1.4 no longer being available, and Gamemaker Studio 2 being hard to obtain for many (alongside the fact that ports to anything other than what you start with costs all of your internal organs and life’s savings), we will be making the switch to Unity. While it sounds ridiculous, we’ve honestly hit our last straw. We’ve waited a year and a half and have nothing to show due to programming problems, so we decided that ends now. Unity is known by many more programmers, even more so than GMS. It’s also as easy to obtain as a click, and boom, you’ve got it. I even got it so I can maybe learn how to program with our new folks’ help!
Before we get flooded with “but you can do this and that easier on GMS than you can Unity”, “Unity isn’t made for 2D games”, or simply “Unity sucks”, lemme clear everything up for you. We’ll make it work. Unity recently received an update that makes 2D game developing easier. Thus, things won’t be so much trouble to make. Alongside this, with our programmers’ extended knowledge of Unity, realistically, anything is possible and easier to them on Unity than it would be on GMS, anyway. Trust me, I think we can do it, especially with the quality programmers we received from this search. Thank you, newcomers!
That’s all. Thank you for reading all the way through! I hope you understand our position here, as we’ve been sitting around as a devlog for far too long. Alongside that, thank you for coming with us all the way to 780 followers! Gamejolt details will be updated shortly, as it’s time for me to hit the sack right now. Time to make like Little Nemo and get tf to my bed quick so I don’t miss out on any dreams. Good night, and I’ll see you next devlog!
