The clouds brightened as we searched the area. As the cold breeze hit us in the face, I started to search around the wreckage of my train. I get out my flashlight to search it better to see if they returned. I look over and see a newspaper.

July 10th, 1992

Train crash in Sunflower releases deadly chemicals.

I didn't read the rest. As I set the paper down, I saw the words, "end of the world," on it.

"Why is this newspaper here?" I think. "How is it here?" I then see a phone sitting nearby. I go over to pick it up and check it when it turns on by itself revealing the date "April 15th 1997," nearly 5 years after the wreck took place. I go to the man who is nearby the trains.

"How is it 5 years into the future?" I ask. "Also who are you? What's your name."

"Joe," he replies. "And when you entered my settlement. You walked into the future. This place was abandoned because of this wreck. Those other passengers failed to survive while you did. Along side that other man."

"What do you mean?" I ask as we walk back to the trains again. "And where is Mark?"

"He is at the settlement still." Joe replies. "You didn't see him?" I stay silent for a while and start to head back to the settlement. The path wasn't as I remembered. Where were the signs? They had all vanished. Where was I now? I couldn't think of any answers as I continued down the path. What actually happened to the others? I ask myself. I need to find out.
