Welcome to the first ever Monthly Tales post!
Monthly Tales will be a series of (you guessed it) monthly posts where I dive into the dumpster fire known as the "New" section for UNDERTALE fangames throughout the month and picking my top 5 to showcase here!
Here's a run-down of the rules (you can just skip these if you want though, you won't miss much)
The project must be an UNDERTALE/deltarune fan project
Only projects found on GameJolt will be looked at
No big projects. The purpose of these posts is to highlight smaller projects
No repeats
No re-uploads
Projects will be ranked primarily on my personal opinion of their quality which I will form based on whatever is on the page, including playing any public builds
All posts will be untouched unless one of the creators of a mentioned game asks for it's removal from the post

*THE GAME HAS AN ENGLISH VERSION AS WELL*
This is a short and sweet project that has it's own unique charm
You play as Carro who lives in Quest Town. In Quest Town, there is a mysterious man who likes to ask questions. If anyone ever gets his question right it's rumoured they will be granted one wish by the man. Now Carro must travel through the town to get to the mysterious man for a chance at that wish!
From what I've played this is a pretty silly but fun game
4. Undertem
This project doesn't have a lot on it's page yet besides an April Fools game, but it's really cool in concept.
Frisk is a century late to their fall. During that time, the Temmie's revolted resulting in them ruling the underground and tem-ifying the underground...
Now with the partly revived Chara's help, Frisk will have to survive this surreal and wrong underground without losing themselves and becoming one with the Temmie's
(I wonder how Bob's doing in this AU?)
The digital and pixel art for the game are beautiful as you can clearly see from the images. Frisk looks especially cute in the digital art, and the sprite work is looking even better than UNDERTALE or deltarune's!
I'd recommend giving this one a follow to see where it ends up in the future
3. Potatorune

Potatorune will be a memified reimagining of Deltarune's first two chapters now including more internet memes, a new battle system, speedrunner trivia and more new content that isn't in Deltarune!

This mod of UNDERTALE looks like it'll be packed full of LOVE when it's released
The goal of the mod is to add new content to the original game as well as:
Re-spriting all of the game
More rooms with new mechanics (yay a longer Undertale!)
Having deltarune-style battles
New original areas
New songs & remixes
You can see the beautiful spritework in the images above and the game page has 15 tracks at the time of writing this.
Oh the music...
From the beautifully elegant "This is called home" (Home remix) to the banger that is Ghost fighting (Ghost fight remix) or one of the more tension inducing original songs "Troubling", this OST has failed to disappointed me even the slightest amount
(I'm listening to it as I type this, in fact)
I already have the game on Xbox, but I'll be getting UNDERTALE on Steam when this mod releases just to experience it because this looks AMAZING
Had this been released before this post was made it could have even made number one on this month's post
(would have been close, but still)

I knew this game was going in first before I even did my final review of this month's list
For each game I review for the monthly selection I have a 10 minute threshold I need to meet so I can say I properly experienced whatever build is on the game page...
I am currently on my second 100% run and have played about 3 hours in total in just two days (as of typing this)
This is one of the best fangames I've ever played, which makes it so hard to believe it only has 35 followers...
The basic premise is you're going through the Ruins grinding for EXP. However, there's a Froggit with glasses called Pole who's trying to cook your ass
On top of that the game has so much polish, beautiful sprite work and general charm with how goofy it can be (as it was originally an April Fools build of dusttale: PERFECT HATRED)
It's also one of the few fangames I've played that I can call challenging and fair at the same time which isn't very common in this community...
It's also so fun unlocking stuff on the skill tree over time and more easily avoiding Pole
I have to end this paragraph like right now or I'll start diving deeper down the rabbit hole and never finish this post, but I beg you PLAY IT NOW!!!

I want this to become something big that helps smaller UTDR projects that might be overlooked at first get the chance to be seen, and it gives me the chance to look at projects I may have just brushed past before!
