Monthly Updates and Recap: August 2020

Introduction

Hi everyone! I've got some new stuff to announce (both good and bad), so stick around and let's get straight into it.

Updates (Games)

Reflex

General Development:

GameGuru MAX (built as the in-house Outlaw Engine by me) is coming along quite nicely. The graphics look great so far, the new UI is looking sharp, and now, with the introduction of entity properties, you'll be able to customize your assets further.

Weapons:

I may be going with another artist's weapons instead, but I'm not really sure yet. On one hand, BSP's weapons have more variety as far as weapon types and nationalities (MTAR-21, L85A2, G11, etc.), and on the other hand, EAI's are (slightly) more limited in number, but are of slightly better quality and have more types of weapons (light machine guns, machine pistols, revolvers, grenades, knives, etc.). I guess I'll have to buy weapons from both artists and see which one fits my game better. Time will tell.

Cube Clicker

So, I've been thinking about this for a while, and I have decided that it's best to cancel Cube Clicker 2. I have a video detailing why I made this decision, and you can watch it here.

Updates (New PC build)

So, I've (somewhat) finally chosen components for the new PC. These shouldn't change too much in the final build. So now, onto the staples of the build:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X - 6 cores, 12 threads @ 4.4 GHz (overclocked)

Memory: Patriot Memory Viper 4 - 32GB (2x16) DDR4 @ 3200MHz

Storage: Samsung 860 EVO 1TB SSD + WD Black 2TB HDD

Graphics: Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 580 @ 1750 MHZ - 8GB GDDR5 VRAM

The total cost for the build will be around $1,250 USD (if the prices of the parts don't change), and I think that's fair, considering that it's cheaper than a lot of other builds, which can easily cost 5x the amount mine does, and you can upgrade it later if you choose to do so (as opposed to a laptop, which is very limited in upgradeability). The point is, it should get the tasks I set forth done, and do them very well.

Final Word

Well, school has started once again, hindering my work temporarily. But I get it, I have to get my education instead of spending my life away in front of a screen. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I’ll see you guys very soon.

Later,

-NR

Just as Pecaminosa's musicians #improvise this rendition of #LittleSunflower 🌻, so do we improvise with this post you're reading. 😂

What's coming out of your own improvs? 🤔

Hi everyone! I started to create some environment props for my new video game, here is a cozy house in the forest. I'm planning to switch from Unity to Unreal... Let's see what new challenges I have to face. Made in Blender and Substance Painter.

A house I've built a while ago. :)

It nicely separates the snowy biome from the grassy one.

It's built with painted Ebonstone.
