Intro

Hello everyone! It's been a few weeks since the launch of MSFS 2024, and speaking of launch - this sim's launch was rough. I pre-ordered the sim in early November, which was a total mistake. For over 12 hours, the majority of players were not able to access the sim. Some were stuck on 97% in the loading screen, while I and others were stuck in a loading queue screen saying the servers had been overloaded. It was a total mess, and now that people can acess the sim, I can finally share my thoughts on this sim.

The Good

Flying in this sim feels incredible. It's definitely an improvment from MSFS 2020. I love the walkaround feature, the career mode is fun, the tiny details in the texture look great and the new planes are awesome. Something that MSFS 2020 needed is having the variants of each plane shown as one plane, as well as more varients. This is something MSFS 2024 did very well. Navigating in the plane selection menu in MSFS 2020 was like navigating the taxiways of Morabbin airport (very hard), but in the new sim it's so much easier.

The Bad

This sim is buggy, very, very buggy. ATC and ground crew sometimes just won't work, or will clip through your plane instead of doing their job. The UI is also completely and utterly souless. It doesn't have the eye catching design of MSFS 2020's UI, instead it has UI that looks straight out of a prototype, in fact, images of the earlier versions of the MSFS 2024 UI looked better than what we got. Several promised features also aren't in the sim currently, such as the marketplace and Red Bull Air Races. Career mode is also quite buggy. I have 4 specialisations and yet it I'm still only getting first flight missions. Also I HATE the text to speech voices. In MSFS 2020, TTS voices were used by ATC because ATC says different things every time you talk to them. But for some stupid reason, in MSFS 2024 they use TTS voices for passengers and NPCs, which sounds awful and souless, but the NPCs don't even say randomly generated things. Speaking of the passengers, I wish they actually had personalities. In MSFS 2024, they all have the same personality and I hate it. It's so boring listening to the passengers and NPCs talk, because they have the same souless TTS voice and they say the same things every single time.

Conclusion

Currently, MSFS 2024 is not very good. MSFS 2020 is much more complete and better in general. Thank you for reading my rant review and I hope you have a nice day.
