My actual first attempt at a fnaf fangame (type of archive post with commentary)

some might be surprised but one night at kfc: rebooted was not my first fnaf fan game, nor One night with Withered Freddy.

The first thing I tried making in Clickteam after learning the basics was called "Five Nights at Malos's" and was being made with the help of 2 other friends (they suggested stuff & made their own characters).

you're probably dying to know what it was gonna be like so let's begin:

the game would've been pretty standard, 5 nights, a 6th night and custom night were planned (even tho I had no idea how to code any of that back then).

The map was pretty basic & would've had 4 or 5 cams.

there were 3 enemys;

the first was a bunny on roller skates called Ollie the Bunny:

This character was made by one of the 2 friends I mentioned.

ollie.png

his gimmick was that he would serve the customers, which is why he would start in the kitchen and not on stage.

The kitchen had a little spot for him to rest before he would start moving (concept art of the kitchen was made but I currently can't find it as of now).

As his concept art shows he was supposed to have red pants, this was planned but I never had time to add it to the model before the game was cancelled.

the second enemy was called Oliver the Bear:

made by the last friend.

there's not alot to say about Oliver as no model was made for him as the game was cancelled way before I could've started modeling him (aka recoloring a pre-existing model), he was the only character to start on the stage.

and now the last one your all probably very curious & confused by:

Malos/The Suit

redsuit_titlescreen_fixed.png

This character was made by me & was gonna be called malos originally, however at some point I renamed him to just The Suit & I can't remember why (or maybe it was the other way round I cant remember).

He would've started in the parts & service room with blood all over the floor as he was basically a springtrap wannabe, having a corpse inside of him.

There's not a lot to say about his concept art other than it's more obvious that a body is inside of him.

Now onto the juicy stuff,

what was the gameplay gonna be?

alllightonfixed.png

you had your standard office with a doorway to the left, a hallway in the front & a vent to the right.

You would be able to check the left door & hallway by clicking on an icon that would be near them.

you also had your obvious camera system.

Ollie the Bunny

would make his way from the kitchen to the left doorway, if he was there you would have to put a water caution sign there to make him leave, which was basically just a fnaf 1 door.

I don't remember what the balance to this was but I think if you used it too often when he wasn't attacking he would ignore it.

Oliver the Bear

he would make his way from the stage to the kitchen and then vent, you had to pull a fnaf 3 on him and close the vent, there was likely a battery or power thing attached to it so you couldn't keep it closed all night.

The Suit

it would go to the front hallway, if it was there you would have to put on a mask...

Okay so it's pretty obvious that since it's my first ever attempt at a fangame the mechanics are pretty bad. That being said, this game has lots of charm & I'm a little sad it didn't end up happening.

On the other hand tho i'm kinda glad it didn't happen because it would've been the buggiest thing ever as I had no idea what I was doing at the time, so yeah...

Five Nights at Malos's Freeroam thing (it didnt have a name):

I'm not gonna talk much about this version because theres not alot to say but basically after I started getting into unreal engine 5, I wanted to revive this project, however it would have basically been completely different.

It was freeroam & very linear, having new characters as well as the old ones returning with a revamp to the og location.

so you're probably going "OMG that sounds pretty epic even if it would've been generic" and to that I answer, no.

basically the best way to describe the game if it was finished is "walk to a specific part of the map to hit a trigger that will make the animatronic chase you and open up a new path you need to take to get to the next level".

that's ALL it would've been, i'm not joking.

It was cancelled very quickly but a (lost) build was made. It was very basic & you would start at the entrance of the location. you would make your way to the office via the left hallway as the front hallway didn't exist after the map was revamped.

a light was supposed to shine from the doorway with weird noises coming from the room, when you finally hit the trigger ollie would roll out of it and chase you (although in the build he was just the standard unreal engine 5 model running at you lol).

you were supposed to run back to the entrance which would be boarded up with tables and chairs, forcing you to go into the basement.

not much was planned after that although level 2 would've had parkour of sorts.

So yeah that's pretty much all there is to say about this version, the only reason I included it here was because i dont think it's worth making a archive for it so I just talked about it here since it is related to the original five nights at malos's.

Footnotes

so, most if not all of the stuff made for the game before cancelation still exists so I could revive it, either keeping the original mechanics so the game can be charmy or revamping the gameplay & turning it into something decent

unbenannt2.png

chances are tho, it will probably not happen. not because i'm ashamed of the game or anything, it's just the two friends I made this with I don't talk to anymore & I find it weird to revive a project without them knowing. yeah I guess you could say I could tell them but that's also weird since this thing is 2 years old now & I don't wanna do that.

So maybe it'll happen, maybe it won't. idk it's up in the air.

anyways thats all, hope you found that interesting somehow.

I usually don't do this but there's this project i'm helping and i'm super hyped for it to be completed.

Weird thing is how little follows it has, I mean look at it!

would you believe me when I say it only has 75 follows?
