So, I know in the past I was HEAVILY against Kermert's fan games, however, I have had a new perspective on fan games as of currently.
Personally, I like a lot of the Kermert's fan games being put out there, however, I do want to put out that there are only a certain type of fan game I like.
The fan games I actually like are the original ones or the ones that add unique twists to the original games. Both examples I'll be using are ones made by @DaKOOLSheep , he made an original Kermert's game entitled Ultimate Kermert Night which was based on an old UCN concept I had back in the day on Deviantart, which is an incredibly fun time, is wholly original and built from the ground-up, and it's just amazing that someone made a full game based on a crappy concept that I had no intention of actually making a game. An example of a unique twist on one of the original games is One Night at Kermert's 2: Halloween Edition, while it's obviously a build of Kermert's 2 with a Halloween theme, the original additions to the game and style really make it unique. Taking the time to improve upon a game by adding your own mechanics, characters, atmosphere, and everything is really cool, and it's nice to see someone actually taking their own approach to an already existing game. Other examples of this include @NEWTheOswaldMovie , @ponyoderso , and @Eon64 's versions of Kermert's 2, among a few others. These I'm totally fine with and I like seeing other fan games around.
However, the ones that I absolutely despise are the reskinned games. Sure, while some of the fan games I previously mentioned are technically reskinned, they were more or less upgrades or people's own unique takes on the original games and took time to add more to them to make them feel unique. I will not tolerate games that are literally just the regular Kermert's games but the characters, sounds, and environments are swapped, basically remixes. While I enjoy ones that actually swap the gameplay up, I hate ones that are literally just the exact same game with a palette swap, games like this include the One Night at Blu Spy series and the One Night at Anina's series, which are literally just the entire Kermert's series with different characters to make it seem like their own thing, but the game is literally the exact same. If you're gonna go out to reskin an entire game, why not put in the effort to actually include some actually new additions to it instead of just reskinning everything? Sure, remixing is okay on Scratch, but this is Game Jolt and I simply won't tolerate it as people could find those games and not realize that they are reskins of an already existing game. I will not hesitate to report Kermert's reskins, and I don't care if you credit me or not, I will not tolerate it.
Anyways, long post lol, time to crawl back into my hole
