tl;dr - this callout post could’ve been a private conversation

When I first heard about this situation, I was skeptical. Not dismissive, mind you, but with how little evidence was available at the time and the sensitive and often over exaggerated subject matter, I had my doubts on how actually bad this ordeal would turn out to be. I am both relieved and incredibly disappointed at how right my doubts were proven.
I don’t have the energy to do a whole breakdown of all the accusations, but if there’s any evidence of Maple or anyone it’s associated with having remotely malicious or predatory intent, I haven’t seen it. Everything Maple and co. have genuinely fucked up on, they’ve acknowledged and apologized for, and everything they haven’t is stuff that’s really fucking stupid to hold against them.
If Mac or anyone else involved in the smear campaign against Maple (because there’s truly no better term for this) is for some reason reading this, I have but one question; Why didn’t you just talk to it directly in the first place? There was no reason for any of this to be made public. Any positives that could have come from this situation could have been accomplished infinitely better in dms instead of being made into a public spectacle. All a public callout accomplished here was alienating Maple and its friends due to the mass hysteria brought on by how blown out of proportion everything was.
Regardless of whoever else may have been aiming, you decided to pull the trigger instead of deescalating like reasonable people. Absolutely none of this had to happen. This callout post could’ve been a private conversation.
