My first update on Tarnished.

Finally! I have free time and I can continue. So far I have coded up the main menu, working doors, and the movement system + sprite directions seem to be working pretty good on my laptop. Oh, and a credits screen so I don’t have to put them in a .txt file.

My next goals are: Make the tiles for doors, walls, floor, and make a proper starting room. But that’s mostly art stuff which I need to get into hours of sketching to satisfy myself.
On the coding side, I want to have a properly working fade in and out when entering a new room, sort of to not make myself - and probably other players too - feel sick when sliding in and out of doors. But I am already figuring this out as I type this.

A bigger goal is to start making text boxes appear when examining items, as the game will hopefully be more of a “interract with X item, unlock Y thing, progress through Z path.” as I do not intend to make this be a pixel walking simulator, so I still need to think up more gameplay elements to add.

Backgrounds and noises to make things prettier will come at a later update.
