My therapist said that I should share this analogy for how ADHD can feel so, I will.


Imagine you get stuck in a river with an extremely strong current. Not even the strongest swimmer can fight that current. Fighting it would be a waste of energy. But you know if you don’t get out of the river, you will die. That river is a task, and let’s say going against the current along the river is completing the task. Most people’s river’s have very little current and they can easily fight that current and complete the task. But for somebody with ADHD, even getting in the river is a challenge. And fighting the current is even more difficult.
