Been working this past week on a whole bunch of new mechanics as well as organizing my game structure a lot to help further down the line. I added a feature to the screen to show how many honey drops youve collected as well as cursors and other things that change so you know which block you would be placing.
Speaking of which… there are currently 4 different types of blocks that are created but dont all have levels.
The basic honey was what was being used from the honey drops before. and causes nothing special besides being a block to stand on.
The spice drop is the first new one which creates a block that when stood on, gives the player increased speed for 4 seconds. The final level of the most recent build contains the workings of a level with this mechanic but is not finished yet.
The next new drop is the Bounce Drop (name pending) which when jumped on causes the player to bounce into the air automatically or bounce double the height if jump is held when hitting.
The last new drop and possibly my favorite is the Ice Drop. This drop can either create a platform like normal (potentially slippery, not sure if i want that yet.) ORRRrrrrrr…. it can be used to freeze bee enemies into standable blocks! I think it’s super cool since I got it working super quick and it even freezes their animation and everything resumes like normal once you take the drop back from it.
Those are all the new drops in the works! Cant wait to add more levels with them in the coming days! There’ll also be some more bee variants coming such as ones that shoot stingers and much speedier ones, and possibly ones impervious to the ice drop. Having a blast making the game though :)
