Nezzon is going to change, a lot

I’m not giving up on this game yet, and I’ve been trying to find what it’s biggest problems are. I think I’m going to change my focus from unholy rogue-like arcade mashup to exclusively arcade. I want people to be able to jump into the action immediately. To do this I’m going to make levels much smaller, I’m talking screen size small. Enemies will endlessly spawn in. You’ll be able to go to the next level as soon as you get there, but you’ll want to kill some enemies and get some gun upgrades to survive. There will be one chest/key set per level like always, but bosses will be removed due to smaller rooms. I also want to make sure players don’t just rush through every level, so every x number of levels the exit will be a super metroid ‘door mini boss’ that will need to be killed. The game will become much faster paced, and more about highscores.

I want to get started on this as soon as possible, but I need to finish up my procedural death jam entry first. Props for reading all of this ;D

Menu system of the future! #Nojong

Wonder if anyone can guess what kinda game I'm working on right now with this GameJolt session data as the only clue. I bet someone can sleuth it out!

I'm developing a new commercial game with a small team! A demo will be coming to steam soon, but you can wishlist it in the meantime if you're into deckbuilding / autobattlers / roguelikes!

I'm currently making a Tetris + Mahjong hybrid game called #Nojong. Match colored blocks in the field to make clears. After a number of clears, the blocks left in your hand are scored, so you want to try and keep triples and quadruples in your hand.

For some reason, it's really hard to change the alpha value of a tile layer in GameMaker. You can do this easily for sprite or instance layers, but not tile layers. So here's a video on how to easily update the alpha value of tile layers in real time.
