sure, it's release was dogshit, and sure they shouldn't have used ai. but

Generative AI and Upscaling AI are very different
It has more content, especially when compared to GOTY
literally an entirely new world
they're literally taking criticism and fixing the game
the game is still fun, it's literally pvz, it's not like the mobile port or anything. (which is way worse)

sure, i haven't actually gotten it yet, but i can just tell people are overreacting
