Niravasi Devlog - 22/12/2020: Full Commitment


Hey everyone,

So it's only a few days until Christmas Eve, and we'll all be celebrating (hopefully) with some festive shenanigans and spending time appreciating the people around you. As for myself, I've actually got some good news for those of you that are still following this game's development. Recently, I had a serious discussion with my family regarding development of this game and my current financial situation. As a result, they've decided to invest in NIRAVASI as a project and are willing to allow me to start a company brand over it.

In a nutshell, I'll be able to work on this game full-time, so development on the game will much quicker as a result. I'm also hoping to get the game in a playable build soon, but I'll come out with more details in the future. In the meantime, let's talk about what's going to come next in the game's development and how the levels will be arranged.

For the Future

"What's this now?"

So as I've mentioned before, Niravasi is going to be a large game. My plan for this game is to hit the 8-hour mark for a very quick playthrough of it, but around 10-12 hours if the player intends to explore all areas of the game itself (to achieve certain rewards at the end). So let's talk about how the structure of the game will be listed:

Introduction: Arrival

1st Level: Old Hanirr

2nd Level: Step Wells of Dhara Hanirr

3rd Level: Niravasi Bazaar

4th Level: ???

5th Level: ???

6th Level: ???

7th Level: ???

8th Level: ???

At this current moment, the Introduction and 1st level of the game are completely done and may only need tweaking at the later stages of the game's development. I am also currently working on the 2nd level, which I will state is about 60-70% complete at this current moment. I've finished working on the other assets needed to complete it and now it's just a matter of mapping things out.

I should note, however, that the size of each of these levels does not accurately reflect exactly 1 hour of gameplay time. Some levels can be completed much more quickly than others and will only require pushing a few buttons here and there. Others will require a number of tasks and exploration needed to complete.

Furthermore, each level will have a different level of exploration for players. allowing some levels to not have as much freedom to explore as others. For example, Old Hanirr is relatively small and fairly easy to see everything it has to offer. Others, like the Niravasi Bazaar, will have a lot of different branching paths to explore and will reward those who do.

Anyway, that's all I've got to say for this week. I'm really happy to say that development of this game can continue at a quicker pace and I'm really eager to get a demo build released for all of you. However, we need to make sure that everything is nice and polished before release, so the game won't be crashing when you try to start it like what's happened in the past. ^^'

I'm going to take a break next week to celebrate the holidays with my family, as well as pay my respects to my Fiancee that sadly passed away 2 years ago. Hopefully we'll have a new demo build release very soon after the New Year starts.

NIRAVASI - Patch 1.1

Hey everyone, It's been a while since I posted anything NIRAVASI-related, so have some snippets of some stuff I'm working on at the moment for Patch 1.1 of the game (Release TBA).

Work on the revamped Perfection Complex level for NIRAVASI (Patch 1.1) is going along pretty well. As you can see from this screenshot, there's even an update to the overall level objective.
