No Brakes GBJAM released / Postmortem!

Hi there! Here’s my new game, No Brakes, my entry for the #GBJAM!
As soon as I heard about the jam I thought: “Damn, I absolutely have to join!”
Problem is, when the jam started I was completely swamped by exams so I had to wait till the last 2-3 days to make something.

The game is heavily inspired by the movie Premium Rush…it is kinda obvious I guess.
You control a bike messenger who lost all the letters and now they’re scattered all over the city! The objective is to collect all the 64 letters and deliver them!
I even added a special power that can slow time, kinda like the movie. I think it’s cool, I probably could have done it better.

Of course I had to cut a LOT of stuff. At the beginning, the game was supposed to have a structure based on missions like reach the objective with a time limit, defeat other bikers…and at the end a final mission and an “endless” mode.
As usual, I didn’t have enough time and removed all the unnecessary stuff.

The car is based on the Ford Fiesta model because my mom used to have it years ago and for other obstacles I planned to add pedestrians and roadblocks but they didn’t make the cut. I’m sure someday I’ll be able to make a game without cutting 70% of the stuff I planned (yeah, sure…)

It was pretty fun though, I love the idea of making GameBoy themed games, it’s cool to work with these kind of limitations.

Ok, see ya, thank you for reading! :)

Why walk when you can jump?

If you have more of an acquired taste, the restaurants in Niravasi have you covered! Maybe skip the salad bar, though.

I mostly build 3D First Person Shooter game mechanics in Unity, and in this I'm just showing C4 mechanics I made for a little side project I am working on! :)

We're knee deep in multiple large features and "game feel". Quick peek behind the scenes in this weeks Dev Blog: https://bit.ly/2QmmaQM
