So I always had a theory that the Necromancer wasn't always evil and stuff like that
My original thought was that him and the Blacksmith were champions of the king, Necromancer betrayed them to serve the Evil Wizard
Now having just listened to Simple Sight 2020, the Necromancer's boss theme remastered by the same guy who did the original one, now adding lyrics, holy shit was I taken by surprise of how melancholic and depressing it was.
Just read a few snippets real quick.

This song slaps yeah, 100% it does, but damn did I not expect to read the lyrics and find this man talking about a loss for purpose, loss of identity and being in an identity crisis.
My theory has remained similar but is now drastically different to the Necromancer's perspective. He didn't just become evil out of nowhere. I think the Evil Wizard drove him insane and coerced him to join his side.
I can further that by saying the same of the Painter Boss, who during his second phase just runs around yelling "Help" and "Help Me". Why is he fighting alongside the Evil Wizard? I just don't think he wanted too, but was forced too.
I think that Blacksmith and Necromancer were originally knights serving the King, that hasn't changed. But I also think that the two had fought each other at some point.
Now I might just be mental for over analyzing a game with more than a few poop jokes but here we are. I might very well just be analyzing these lyrics which may very well not be canon.
But call me crazy, maybe I ain't wrong.
[I'm 100% over thinking it because it's not a serious game]
