the player character (you create them, including their name but let's just call them tartar for convienece sake) wakes up on their 16th birthday.

after getting some presents, tartar leaves their house and walks to school with their friend sophie.

basically everyone lives in the uproots (hehe thats the name of this game), which is a giant fucking tree with house-pods hanging off the branches and in the tree itself as well.

so while walking to school, a scaffolding breaks and tartar and sophie fall out of the tree and then die. the end (jk)

they almost fall onto the root of the tree when a grey-skinned guy catches them and says that they're "trespassing" and shove them down a big tube.

after falling on a bunch of pillows, tartar and sophie find themselves in the downroots, which is populated by a bunch of stone people (like people made out of stone), or downrooters. turns out they've been living in the downroots for thousands of years and are forbidden to go to the uproots because of political reasons???? i guess????? idk im still working out the kinks

and i havent figured out the rest of the plot yet :;)
