So first off, Claire and Thomas were forced onto an marriage, they have actually never loved each other but they had to for money from Claires family

Second off, Jonathan wasn't a planned child, He is actually some type of curse idk because his father did some shit (im too lazy to write allat) with tarot cards and this is like revenge or something

Now to actual lore, his parents instead of aborting him or kicking him out as he grew a little they decided to try to take care of him scared that if they dont treat him right they will get even more bad luck. Even tho they tried "best" they still couldn't handle him and we're horrible, and his mother just treated him like some kind of toy she can let her anger out. She was strict as hell, often would hurt him and forcefully cut his hair but then pretend like Jonathan was making things up

Well his dad was shitty too, he would often manipulate him onto working his job, sometimes even grabbing him to the point where it hurt and forced him to stay inside, he could never leave the house scared he would run away or tell anyone about the shit that was happening in their house

Thomas was actually a little guilty of his actions while Claire just didnt care at all

For some reason Jonathan feels pure hate towards his father and not his mother, despite she almost killed him multiple times but its due to the fact she manipulated him onto thinking thats what every real man had to go through..

In the end, when Jonathan turned 18 and had enough of the abuse, He took his father's gun he hid and oofed them both . He still carries his fathers gun till this day with himself no matter where he goes always anxious something similar will happen to him

Also : Claire changed his personality, she tried to toughen him up, made him so he doesn't expresses emotions much and always shows neutrality (in case he spoke to other people about everything in real life)
