It's kinda a similar thing with Undertale community too, I know...
But then still, atleast Undertale fans alot of times bring up something interesting, something that's debatable. And atleast Undertale has such elements that make it's characters overpowered in one way or the other.
Minecraft fans don't even provide that, all they provide is "Steve negs in all things" or "Steve solos", and use game mechanics, that aren't even canonly Steve's abilities, to justify their claim....
I've seen multiple people debunk all stupid arguments Minecraft Steve fans use. I myself have done that quite alot of times here on gamejolt. Though, I didn't quite face a backlash on those posts due to lack of popularity. The ones who did face one, though weren't from Gj (obviously), faced complete denial and repetation of the literal same arguments by Steve fans...
Even if they'd bring up a new argument, it would just be even more rubbish. Like this one that "Steve is controlled by a player so he solos".
First of, this ain't Deltarune or OFF, where the player is a whole different entity and is part of the story and is even acknowledged, one way or the other. And looking at what happens in Deltarune and OFF, it doesn't quite seem like the characters we control would solo fiction.
Here's a thing: Just because a fictional character is controlled by a real player (which can't be affected by anything fictional and can just avoid it) doesn't mean that very fictional character is overpowered. The controlled character still has it's own limits.
Secondly, Steve isn't controlled by a player, the player just roleplays as him in-game. Like I said, it ain't like Deltarune or OFF. The player and the controlled character relationship in Minecraft is more similar to OMORI, where you do have the choice of naming the main character as yourself, but ultimately all you did was just name him and role-play as him. You didn't actually become a whole different part of the story where you and the protagonist are two different entities. It's still just Sunny's story, and you aren't actually a part of it. That literally goes for Minecraft aswell, that's why Steve and the player aren't classified as two different characters in the end poem.
I don't even really need to go much in detail on why commands like /kill and creative mode and other stuff like that aren't Steve's ability. The reasoning is simple: They're not canon, only there for player's convenience. We never called quit game as any other random game character's canon ability so why do we give it to Steve?
