(OUTDATED) Rebranding - Sep. 15th Progress Update

Hey everyone!

Time for a new progress update.

I've included a TL;DR, but I recommend reading the devlog.

First off, the game page was entirely updated with new content.

Rebranding

Now that the page got updated, who's that "Spike"?

Ever since the first version of the game (2015), a lot of people mistook the main character who was originally called Sparky (a wolf) for the FNaF 1 hoax (dog) despite disclaimers and the different designs and cast.

Having a character with a similar animal and the same name as another one can be confusing, and I understand.

While the old name can be nostalgic or iconic to some, I feel like it's best for the game in the long run if I change it. After many years and more Sparky the Dog fangames, I've felt like the name doesn't fit my character much anymore, and also for years felt the need to change it to further separate and distinguish each character and their respective game(s), and in the process make this more of it's own thing. After all, his design changed quite a bit too.

I've come up with alternatives that could still have some of the old name's feel and kept the S for NSaS.

This new name I chose (with feedback from friends and players from 2015-2016) was actually one of the first names I was considering back before the first page was released years ago, but for some reason didn't choose it back then.

Announcing the Classic "Mode" (Skins)

I've seen people requesting for a classic mode, and honestly, I like the idea, as the original game is very old and there were quite a few iterations of it through time. However:

I AM NOT REPLACING THE CURRENT MODELS FOR THE MAIN GAMEPLAY, THIS IS FOR A BONUS "MODE".

This mode can't be 100% accurate to NSaS:Rebuilt, it'd need me to recode everything just for a small mode, change the environments, and I don't feel like remastering/updating that game, it was too unoriginal and clunky.

While most of the models have been lost, I can replicate them as I have references and have done accuracy modeling before. (If you didn't notice, Classic Spike's head is remodeled)

It's still too early to show how this'd look like (not my current priority), but I will be doing classic skins eventually.

TL;DR

I've updated the game page with new renders and screenshots!

Sparky the Wolf's name was changed to Spike the Wolf, to further distinguish him from Sparky the Dog, the FNaF1 hoax.

Classic skins will be made eventually. More info on that later.

Thank you for reading this devlog, and I hope you can understand the name change.

Also, thank you for 700 followers! This is crazy!

Until the next post!

Next up

One year since the first announcement.

No more file loss, Spike's now has source control!

This will be extremely useful not just for backing up the project files, but incase I break something, I can revert to a previous commit!

We're back

So, where are the updates? Is this canceled?

Is this canon

(OUTDATED) Welcome to the new page.

Happy Friday!

Model is my friend Lynxul's recreation of Austin the T-Rex (The Sea Shift at Austin's).
