These past days have been very surreal to me, seeing people playing my game, enjoying what I’ve made, uploading videos of my game. I can’t explain how happy I am to see all of this! I’ve watched as many YouTube videos as I could, read the comments, and I’m super happy that people actually like this game! All of this will be kept in a very special place in my heart, because seeing someone play my game on YouTube has been a dream of mine, and here it is! I’m glad that the game seems to be working for everyone and that (hopefully) everyone is enjoying it, as it is my first released thing. Ever.
Phobia: The Awakening is the first chapter in a small FNaF fangame series that I’m working on, originally it was only a passion project I was keeping to myself, but I couldn’t help but think that at least a small amount of people could see this, especially after all of the hard work I did. I had the models of the characters done as early as 2019, but I struggled and struggled with ideas, either trying too hard or worrying too much. I made many, many different versions of this game, though none of them got far. I made one in February 2020, which was going to be a bigger game, but in July of that year I stopped because it was too much. After some other attempts, I fixed and upgraded the character’s models, making them more optimized for a game, as the older ones were too complex and slowed the game down. In addition to that, I made them more accurate to The Wiggle’s puppets, so it was even better. Later around November 2020, I picked up the old project I stopped in July, and re-rendered all the cameras with the new models, changed the environments a teeny bit, and redid the characters in the office with new and upgraded animations with the knowledge I had gained. I stopped again, then picked it up again, then one last time, and then I finished it in June 2021. It felt like I had won a war, I guess you could say. Fast forward to recently, I upgraded the game with some minor additions, then released it. I’m surprised people actually like it a lot!
What’s next?
There’s more coming in the Phobia series, and I have some pretty awesome plans that some of you may like. The story will continue, and secrets will be revealed along with more questions to be asked. It’s not a perfect story, but I’m happy with how it’s going so far, and I hope people will enjoy it. I’ve noticed many people talking about the characters such as Dorthy the Dinosaur, Henry the Octopus, and Wags the Dog. Unfortunately, these characters will not appear in any of the games. The only characters from The Wiggles you’ll see is Greg, Anthony, Murray, Jeff, Captain Feathersword, and Jimmy the Elf. So if you see any new characters, then they likely won’t be from The Wiggles, and are just my own creations because I like using my own creative fun. To put it as simply as I can, “The Wiggles” is the animatronic band in the pizzeria. There is no real band of people, and while the humans in this game may sometimes share last names with the “real wiggles”, that is just put there as a reference and doesn’t mean anything. Jimmy the Elf is an animatronic who was brought out during the Christmas season. This may disappoint some people, but I’m having way more fun making these newer characters and different ideas than I would if I limited myself to the source material, and of course these games are made because I want to make them and that I want to have fun making them. They’re not perfect, and could be better, but I’m just having fun! I hope people understand.
Along with more to come for Phobia, I will also put up some other games I finish and feel like would be good enough to show off. I have no plans right now, but expect some other things at some point from me too!
There won’t be an official announcement for the next Phobia game yet, I may tease something in the coming weeks, but only time will tell. It’s nowhere near the time to show teasers or make announcements, and those will only come when they should!
Thank you for everything!
Here’s to the future!
