A Pig’s Game Begins
Hello, my name is Joshua and I’m making an indie game involving pigs. I’m also writing devlogs for said game about pigs. Expect some posts about my game at least (hopefully) every two weeks. I’ll also post some pictures, maybe a video or two, and possibly even some music as it comes along. I’m hoping to be able to post every week so you know how things are going, but life is life. That’s the gist of this game page.
With that summary out of the way, let’s get down to it. I wouldn’t say I’m new to making games. I’ve been making games ever since I was a teenager, but this is my first real big game. To clarify, when I say big I mean small but substantial. I’m making it using Game Maker: Studio 2. If I had to give a projection, I would say that I optimistically will complete the game in a year or year-and-a-half. I should also have a working demo in a few months.
If you’re worried about the quality of the game, don’t panic! I’m about to let you know exactly what you’re getting into.
So:
I have never made a sprite-based game before.
I’m making 16-bit-esque sprites for the first time.
I’ve only successfully coded one game before this one using completely different game-development software (posted on Game Jolt, in fact).
I have absolutely little experience with making music or sound effects.
Pashango Productions (my game development studio) consists of me and only me
Now that you’re hopeless about this game, let me tell you something else.
I love this game.
I have loved this game ever since I started making it and I will love it once I have finished it. The development process will have its ups and downs, but in the end it is something I am passionate about and I hope that shines through in every moment of play. I am a writer at heart and there’s a story in this game that I need to share with others. It’s a very personal story that I hope everyone who plays will appreciate in one way or another.
That’s all for now everybody. My next log will give some more details about the actual game and some of the things you will be able to do in it. I hope you’re as excited about the future as this game as I am.
Thanks for reading,
Joshua
