Pig Log #2: Ehh and His Things

Ehh and His Things

So, let’s talk details. In this game you will be playing as Ehh, the pig. Here’s a personal photo of him in his house that I stole from the nightstand that he doesn’t have:

It’s sparse at the moment, but considering this is Pig Log #2 there is always room for some expansion. Anyway, let’s take a look at some of the things you can see in this picture.

Aww. Look how cute he is.

So, what will you get to do in this game? You can explore and interact with lots of things in Ehh’s house and see how he reacts to things. Every day there will be new things to discover with objects both old and new.

Here’s a few of the things that Ehh has (at the moment because I haven’t coded any more):

A Bed

This is where Ehh sleeps. It also progresses the game forward when you’re done exploring the house that day. The game uses a day / dream cycle that I’ll get into more when I’ve actually made it.

A Toilet

Also known as the Save Toilet. Use this toilet to save your game. Any time you save and reload, the game will begin on that day. If you’ve made any significant progress during that day, that progress will also be saved. For example, say you’re on Day 2 and you’ve explored enough to the point where you found a Golden Item. If you save at that point, when you reload you will still have the Golden Item. That’s how the Save System will work at this point, though I have not made it yet.

A Computer

Like a lot of us, Ehh is interested in the online world. With his computer, he can do a bunch of different things. He can check his social media page to see what’s going on in his social circle. Ehh also has his own personal website where he uploads the drawings he makes (more on that in a second). There may be other things that go on at this computer, but that’s all I’ll say for now.

A Drawing Area

Ehh’s passion is drawing. He loves coming up with ideas and putting them down on paper. Improvement is something he always keeps in mind when he makes a new drawing. Like a lot of us, he hopes that some day people will notice his work.

That leaves us with one last object:

A Chair

It’s a chair. Ehh sits in it and either uses the computer or draws. That’s about it.

In Conclusion…

So yeah, not a lot of things in his house so far but there will be more in the future. I may have not mentioned it yet, but all of these objects so far are interactive in the current build of the game. I’m still working on some unique animations for interacting with them, but otherwise they all do things. I’ll probably upload a video at some point to show you how all this works game-wise, so look out for that.

Think of this Pig Log as an introduction to stuff I’ve already done and part 2 of the Introduction to A Pig’s Game trilogy of posts I’m making. In the next post I’ll go more into depth about pretty much everything I’ve done so far and my plans for the full version of the game. After the first 3 Pig Logs expect them to be either on a weekly or bi-weekly basis with updates about what I’ve accomplished since the previous log (you know, like an actual devlog). Hope you stick around and see how this game grows and improves.

Thanks for reading,

Joshua

not the greatest house, but it's a house! :D

Some time ago, we posted a screenshot of the Mexico level. A curiosity about it is that, like some other scenarios of the game, it was inspired by a real landscape, The Basaltic Prisms of Santa María Regla. It is one of the natural wonders of the country!

I made a small jungle house.
