Player Hints: Omochao Integration Idea

So I’m thinking of adding Omochao in a different way in areas where the player would need guidance (necessary since Sonic will hardly be talking during the levels unless he’s hurt, or an event happens). Unlike past games which thought Sonic’s voice was so captivating/endearing that they used it for hints, I’m going to have Hint Rings which may actually trigger Omochao to appear and visually aid the player in whatever hint is being described, so as to guide the player and not have them assume things mean whatever definition they’re thinking. (The game won’t be against the player using their imagination or playing in the way they want, but if the player gets stuck and confused, they may need some guidance to get an idea simply on how to progress or what/how to uncover [things]).
Of course the Hints would be optional, so if the player doesn’t need hints, they can change that in the Settings which may be located in the Pause Menu or the Settings Menu upon starting the game.

Algorithmic/Pseudocode-ish Layout of idea:

  • Touch Hint Ring[s]

  • Detect event and assigned objects (which are most likely on-screen)

  • If event involves visual representation or guidance, load Omochao. It will appear from above briskly and proceed to do whatever according to the hint once just above the ground

  • Load event text and voice clip if any (when there’s no visual aid, Omochao will still talk. It just won’t spawn)

  • Close event

That’s all I have time to post so far…
