(FRIENDLY REMINDER: This is all based on the bite-sized research I've done on YouTube - which is where all of 'Popeye Untold's content lies)
The reason for what I wrote here is because the Pitch Pilot for it is basically a set of random events without a clear plot in sight. They literally feel like clips from different episodes... which is extra funny, due to the amount of publically-available content this thing got. I'm not calling this thing bad (frankly, I think it's pretty funny), but it 100% doesn't feel like an ACTUAL episode - which, in my personal but oh so honest opinion, is a terrible idea for a pilot. Those things may be early drafts, but they still need some good material on them for them to be classified as an episode, with the most cardinal one being a plot. The only other episode made for 'Popeye Untold', thankfully, does have a coherent plot involving Popeye & Bluto fucking each other up at Olive's house. I have a very good feeling that the pretty incoherent Pitch Pilot was one of the big reasons as to why 'Popeye Untold' wasn't picked up for air.
Alright, ladies & gentleman (& all other people in the audience), thanks for coming to my TED talk. Tune in to next time when I'll discuss the cultural significance of Dug in the lore of 'The Return to Freddy's'.
