POPGOES - Weekly Update + Fanart Showcase (04/11)

Welp. Last week I told you that we didn't have much to show, but to look out for Halloween because we might have a few things ready by then. And phew, we did! I hope you guys enjoyed it. Because of that, this week I'll be recapping things shown off on Halloween rather than showing off even more new stuff. Hope you understand lol. But first...

POPGOES Evergreen:

Sheesh! Lots of stuff to cover from earlier this week, of course. We ended up releasing five things in total. Four for Evergreen, and an update for Arcade. The first thing we released for Evergreen was a full reveal of all seven Halloween trading cards in the game:

As a reminder, there are 50 trading cards in Evergreen, so this is only 14% of the full collection. We've also shown off Popgoes and Balloon Boy, so those keeping up have seen 18%. The full collection is awesome, and all of the artwork for them is done now. It's been great to see people so excited to collect the cards (and phones). An absolute TON of work was put into them.

Our second reveal was this:

In last week's update post, I talked about how we ended up scrapping a phone based on an old television set due to a few issues, and that we'd be making some new phones to replace it. Well, here they are! The "Vintage" one has an animated (static) screen which you can see in the dev log, and the "Retro" one has two styles (only takes up one phone slot) based on a desktop PC or television. What do you guys think?

We've been continuing work on phones, trying to fill out the final few slots, but have run into a few problems. We'll probably move onto other stuff soon anyway.

Superfans will remember that when we originally released the song "Ad Machina", I mentioned that it was the title screen for the Evergreen. We received a fair bit of feedback saying that it's way too intense for a title screen, and though we don't even have a title screen (or anything really) programmed, I did eventually end up agreeing with those people. So I had Radiarc, our amazing composer, come up with something a bit more subtle, quiet, mysterious. This new track became Cognizance, the title theme / menu track for Evergreen!

I'll be honest, I don't really know where Ad Machina will go in Evergreen now, but I can imagine it working for an end credits, something like that. Anyway, I hope you guys like Cognizance!

The final thing we revealed for Evergreen was this:

Long story short, this is not a Nightmare animatronic, but it is a distorted, exaggerated, hallucination of Toy Freddy. I know that sounds exactly like a Nightmare animatronic but it isn't, trust me lol. If I were to design a Nightmare Toy Freddy, it wouldn't look like this.

Evergreen has ten full "chapters" or "levels" of sorts, going Night 1, Mysterious Section 1, Night 2, Mysterious Section 2, etc. This guy appears in the Mysterious Sections. You get me? I would call them "post-night sections" but they're pretty huge and I think that would be a disservice to them. You'll see eventually.

This is a fairly divisive character from what I've seen. Some people love it, some people hate it, some people aren't sure yet because not much has been shown. That's great, honestly. It's fun. It's also fun to WORK on these kinds of things again, and it's especially interesting to work with the original FNAF characters in new ways, rather than totally new designs. People are very attached to the FNAF animatronics, so I know it's risky, but hey ho. I love how these guys look, and I can't wait to show more (not yet though).

POPGOES Arcade:

On top of the Halloween stuff for Evergreen, we also released the latest update to POPGOES Arcade on Steam, which improves a load of stuff and also fixes a compatibility issue for people in some non-English-speaking countries like Poland and Russia.

We're hoping that this is the final update for the PC version of the game, so that we can get to work on ports. Whether you have or haven't played the game before, we would really appreciate people playing this latest update so we can get feedback on any potential issues. If everything's fine, we'll move onto Android and iOS (and then consoles)!
