Porkchop's Wonder Farm | End of Summer Update


As mentioned on my last post celebrating the new year I stated that I would post an update of how the game's going as soon as my summer vacations were over to summarize all the work I did over the course of the holidays, and so that time has come. Here's a list of stuff made until now and what you can expect in the future.

What's done

  • A fully playable point & click introduction section.

    • The development of this section allowed me to fully implement:

      • A full inventory system

      • An inspect system

      • A use system

      • A hitbox system (which functions to identify collectable items, moving triggers, object triggers and puzzles)

      • All visuals for this section have been implemented and are final as well.

      • Special events...

  • An introduction cutscene.

  • A few characters models (Still more to be done)

  • Different text colors for different characters dialogues.

  • Main gameplay has some of its core mechanics almost fully programmed.

  • Test visuals for main gameplay were implemented but still not final since I wanna figure the player's progression out and other stuff that I first want to see work properly before implementing any "final" visual just so i dont have to replace them everytime.

  • Small bonus modes for the game have been concepted.

What to expect on future updates

Since I still want to keep the gameplay footage low profile (specially the main gameplay section) until the game is almost done (which will be properly revealed on videos such as a trailer or small showcases depending of what comes first) you can probably just expect for now a list of stuff done in some important dates (or milestones) along with teasers/images related to the game.

I have a game page update planned for the future as well when i consider i have enough progress done to show.

From development itself I don't wanna get too deep on what is planned but in very basic terms it is finishing all core mechanics (which would be mechanics player will use at all times) before getting into enemie's AI or player's progression to complete the game.

Final Note

Ever since I got my new laptop the game's been progressing faster than it ever did (It's even more progress than the scrapped "restaurant version" of the game) and I couldn't be happier with what has been done!

So excited to keep doing stuff for the game and show you all everything in its final stages whenever that day comes!

As of the date of this post the first PROPER game page update for the new version of the game has been done which includes screenshots from the small intro section, new page description, thumbnail and header. Right now everything shown is just a small portion of what the game is and I won't be updating these until a proper trailer is out whenever progress is way more advanced. This page update only served to transition from the old "restaurant" version and get into the new stuff.

TL;DR

  • A fully playable introduction section has been done which served to implement key mechanics.

  • Main gameplay section is still not going to be shown until a trailer releases whenever the game gets more progress and it's in final stages.

  • More progress has been done thanks to new laptop and better organization. Even more progress done than the scrapped "restaurant version"

  • Game page has been updated in order to transition from the old "restaurant" version to the new "escape room" version by including media from the new version itself.
