Usually, I’m not particularly into LGBTQ+ content, nor do I tend to ship Sonic the Hedgehog characters, but since it’s Pride Month, I couldn’t help but notice the relationship between Tangle the Lemur and Whisper the Wolf (often called “Whispangle”), especially in the IDW comics. So, I thought, “Why not draw a picture of Tangle and Whisper?” For those unfamiliar with them, here’s a quick introduction.
Tangle the Lemur is a brave, adventurous, and optimistic heroine with a strong sense of justice. She thrives on excitement and challenges, though sometimes her recklessness gets the better of her in battle. Loud and outgoing, she’s friendly and eager to prove herself despite being relatively new to the scene. Tangle shares a close and complementary friendship with Whisper the Wolf, offering deep support and understanding. While she dreams of exploring beyond her village, she remains loyal and protective of her home. Her enduring hope and kindness help her and her friends face threats like the Metal Virus, and she plays a vital role in encouraging Whisper to pursue peace instead of revenge.
Whisper the Wolf used to be bubbly and outspoken, but became quiet and reserved following traumatic losses caused by Dr. Eggman and Mimic. Now shy, cautious, and mistrustful, she prefers solitude and limited social interaction. Despite this, she forms a strong connection with her Wisps and remains focused and determined during missions. Though hesitant to trust others, Whisper gradually opens up, especially to her first true friend, Tangle. Their contrasting personalities complement each other, and their friendship grows stronger through shared struggles. Whisper wrestles with her past but is committed to becoming a better friend and teammate.
In summary, while nothing is officially confirmed, the way Tangle and Whisper interact strongly suggests they have feelings for each other. Many fans believe that their relationship might develop further in the future.
Although Issue 79 is coming soon, and I'm scared of what Mimic is gonna do to either one of them.
