Greetings.
It has been quite some time since the last update, so let’s get right into the news.
Story Progress
Over time a lot of progress has been made and we have quite a bit of the first area (and later in the game) completely planned out, with a nice chunk of early-game dialogue being scripted already.
The game will be pretty story-oriented, so taking time to make sure everything works and is of good quality.
Coding Progress
The game’s engine has pretty much been finalised in all aspects besides the magic system, which i will start seriously working on when it becomes relevant. Samuel will not start out with magic, as he is from our own very world. How will he learn magic? Will someone teach him? That will be answered in the game eventually. I’ve also redone the Devil Swarm’s AI, changing its behaviour entirely. The Happy and basic Lerx Cultist will also be redone, with the Happy giving a poison effect for a second upon getting hit and the Lerx Cultist having a charge attack. Because of this enemy having a bigger role in the story, there will be different variants, with some even using spells.
Another thing i should note is that the weapon system will be scrapped. That’s right, no more different weapons. Sure, you will still get upgrades to Samuel’s gear, making him significantly stronger, but the combat will focus primarily on the Magic aaaaaaaand…
Dual Combat
_Through the game Samuel meets many interesting characters, including the ghost of a betrayed mage, a young aspiring hero, and many more. Of course, there’s way more to these characters in terms of story, but that’d be spoiler territory.
Anyway, these characters can join your party, following you through the dungeon and aiding you in combat. They all have their own style of combat and are relevant to the story.
This feature will also be implemented when needed.
Team Members Needed
Samuel’s Holy Quest is in need of capable spriters and composers! At the moment, all music used is no-copyright stuff found online and that’s no good of course. I myself can’t sprite very well, so we really need some spriters. If you are:
13 years or older
Decent in your field of choice
Able to work regularely and be productive

Now, to end the devlog, here are some recent gameplay screenshots, to show what we’ve been up to.
First one is a certain cutscene, and the second one is a HIGHLY work in progress for an area i’m working on.
Third one is the improved OW menu. Not final of course.
