Progress Report


For the past few months I have been learning more about the Godot engine and I'm still trying until this day to improve my self on it

Today I'm here to share with you all what I learned and what's new in the project

Firstly, as of August 5th, Scene changing now works! This took me by surprise because for months the player used always spawn under the map and I didn't know how to solve this issue until it solved it self, I still have no idea why it fixed self or what I did to manage and get the player on top of the map again but hey, this means that we can finally stop worrying about how we'll move the player around and worry more now about mapping

And now moving on to the most exciting and disappointing news

I'm finally working on Multiplayer and trying to update all the code to work with multiplayer, however, I'm still quite new to Godot's multiplayer and don't know what I'm doing half the time, I may have gotten better at a lot of things Godot offers but Multiplayer is a new territory that I'm unfamiliar with

Currently, the chat system works and syncs correctly but scene syncing is something I haven't still found a solution for, not to mention that the game now crashes because I can't get variables to sync correctly

As a result, I'm stepping away from multiplayer for a while until I get more experience in this subject OR until someone else comes on the project and fixes the mess I made with networking

There isn't really much more to be said because everything else is still not ready to talk about, the Day and Night system had some attention for a while and I think it's almost done but I can't tell for sure yet

Next up

I started working on reviving HPTWC almost 5 months ago on it's engine (BYOND) but then i realized that it's just better to remake the game in a more powerful engine and give it a fresh start that it deserves. https://github.com/MaxIsJoe/TWCRemake

NPCs have been added into the game and they have some dialogue as well, they're still not ready but they exist now.
